Abstract
The planning, design and operation of any build related to the use, control and protec-
tion of water resources in a watershed are based on the assessment of demand facing
water availability in the basin. For proper management, water availability in the basin, as
well as its temporal distribution needs to be well known. With the goal of providing infor-
mation concerning the availability of water resources in the state of Rondônia, analysis
was performed in a 19-year historical series of the Jamari River Basin to determine
ecological flows Q7, 10, Q90 and Q95, before the implementation of a dam. To this end,
statistical models of distributions were used, namely: Gumbel, Log-Normal and fre-
quency in order to obtain the most appropriate ecological flow for the data series. These
flows subsequently served as a comparison to the flows recorded in the same historical
series of the station. It was verified that, among the distributions used, the Log-Normal
distribution showed the best adjustment to the historical series for calculating the Q7, 10
in which a minimum flow of 2.92 m³ / s with r² = 0,76 was obtained. The same distribu-
tion showed values of Q90 and Q95 of 20 m³ / s and 9 m³ / s respectively, both with r² =
0,81. The flow values showed can serve as a reference for grant conferment processes
in the Jamari River Basin.
